So yesterday’s post generated at least one concern that, as a lawn care service company, we should consider dandelions, and the control of said dandelions not only significant but a priority.
So we wanted to state here that we do all we can do, everyday, to control dandelions. In fact, because we understand our significance in the the universe we do it a little bit differently. Perhaps you are familiar with the chemical that is known as 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid or as we call it 2,4-D. Well, it’s the active ingredient in the herbicide that most companies use to kill dandelions. It’s also know to be linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, kidney and liver damage, reproductive toxicity and is very harmful to dogs, fish, aquatic invertebrates, and birds.
So we don’t use it.
Instead we use a product called FIESTA, it’s a chelated iron and it kicks the crap out of dandelions. So with that being said, I want to change my stance on the insignificance of dandelions.
Here is a time lapse video of one dying after it’s been sprayed with FIESTA.
