Considering Aeration? It’s really hard work!

Back to school time means that it’s time to think about aerating your lawn.   After a long summer of stress and foot-traffic, the soil is in need of some major de-compaction.  Every Fall we get calls from homeowners who tried to aerate their lawn on their own and decided that it wasn’t the best idea! If you are considering an aeration this year we want to give you a couple of reasons why it’s a good idea to let us do it.

It’s hard work!  It takes a long time!

A lawn aeration is not a quick process, especially if you have a big lawn. The larger the yard, the more work it will be. Not all of us have a lot of time to dedicate to this, and when you finally have that weekend off, who wants to actually spend it aerating their lawn? I know I wouldn’t. If you don’t have the time to commit to doing this, a professional company can do the aeration for you saving you both time and energy which you can dedicate to the more important things in life!

Is it really worth the cost savings you think it will be?

Lots of home owners decide to aerate themselves  because they think it’s cheaper. But that won’t be necessarily be the case.   Unless you actually own a core aerator you’ll have to find one somewhere and that usually means renting the machine from a tool rental company.  You’ll probably need it for a full day and don’t forget, it weighs about 500 lbs so you can’t just put it in the trunk of your car.  You’ll need to have a pick up truck with ramps, a trailer or pay extra to have it delivered.

Also, those tow behind aerators that attach to your riding lawn mower.  They don’t really do the trick.
